I don't know if there is one list of everyone's yarn, but I can tell you about mine. I'm knitting with Berroco Ultra Alpaca and I'm loving how it's knitting up. I think a lot of it has to do with your likes and dislikes and sometimes price too. I first fell in love with a chocolate brown Classic Elite that would have cost me close to $200. Your best bet is to buy one skein of some yarn you like and test knit it to see if you get gauge and like the yarn. Good luck.

I have used Lion Wool Ease for a teenager (machine friendly) and Rowan Yorkshire Tweed Aran (still not done because it's difficult for me to seam with) and have Cascade 220 for the CPH I'll be making for myself this time. I might make another in wool ease simply because it's VERY easy care and VERY cheap! Good luck, there are an overwhelming number of excellent choices!!

I used Cascade Sierra Quatro, which is lighter than the gauge the pattern called for. It required some alterations in the pattern, but the sweater turned out nicely. See it here -

I used Cascade 220 and was very happy with it; I spent less than $40 for the whole thing.

Ella Rae Worsted for the first one--- Cascade Sierra for #2 loving them both so far;)

I'm using Beaverslide McTaggert's tweed fisherman weight. It knits up heavier and denser than Cascade 220 but I am getting gauge on the suggested needle sizes, US6 and US8.

I used Sirdar Donegal Tweed - affordable, excellent yardage AND machine washable/dryable! Knits up soft and cozy - not too warm.

I'm working with Beaverslide's Fisherman's weight yarn. I chose this yarn because it had a rugged look to it. I wanted a casual looking hoodie. And the yardage is excellent - it didn't even take 2 full skeins to complete the back in the 36 in size!
