Beaverslide CPH in Alpine Fir is Done!

I can't believe my CPH is finally done. It would have been done earlier, but 90 degree weather & seaming doesn't mix.

I mentioned in an earlier post that I needed to wash it in order for the yarn to bloom and fill out nicely. For more details, please visit my blog.

The specs:

Yarn: Beaverslide Fisherman's Yarn in Alpine Fir, 5.5 skeins
Gauge: 4.25 stitches to the inch
Modifications: Decreased the ribbing on the bottom to 2 inches, did not knit the longer cuffs, short-row shoulders, added 1 inch of length, & continued the cable up the back of the hood.

It's been a fun project, and it's been a lot of fun reading about everyone's choices and modifications.

I would make this again, but if I did, I think I would have to make it a gift.

Putting it All Together

I'm in the process of seaming my CPH together. I've completed the shoulder seams so far, using the directions from Knitty originally posted by Brown Berry.

Because this is a mulespun yarn, I will need to wash it so that the yarn will bloom after I finish the seaming. With the warm weather that's on the way, drying won't take too long.

I can't wait to post pictures of my finished CPH!

Closing in on the Finish Line

Thanks to Jill for letting me know that I haven't posted here for a while. This is the current progress on my CPH - despite the number of setbacks (which you can read about on my blog), I'm still enjoying this project.

This is my fifth time picking up for the ribbing. I'm not too discouraged, since this is my first button band. I'm using this project as a learning tool - first time kitchenering the hood, first time doing short-row shoulders, first time doing a multi-cabled sweater, etc.

Here are some other pictures of my work. I'm very proud to have come so far in this CPH, and it's because you have inspired me.

Current Progress (Minus Frogging)

This is where I was last week with my CPH. I continued on with the sleeves in the hope that this would be finished by this weekend.

And then I discovered I could not live with the mistake. Yes, I made it twice on purpose. Since you are all a talented group of knitters I'm confident you'll find it at first glance.

On the plus side, I heeded Freda's
advice and washed my swatch a while back. I was surprised by the results. I'm still glad I did it.

I can't wait to post again with a picture of the sleeves done correctly! I feel as though this cable and I are now old friends, and I'm looking forward to doing it correctly.

From the Starting Line

I'm a new member to this KAL and I'm glad to be here. I was inspired to make this cardigan because I stumbled upon this blog and saw everyone's beautiful work. This is also my first KAL.

I chose Beaverslide's Traditional Fisherman's weight, in Alpine Fir. It was either this color or this one. That was my hardest decision. I like the way it's turning out in the Alpine Fir. I'm using Knitpicks needles, US 7. My gauge is 4.25 stitches to the inch. I'm making the size medium and the gauge difference will ensure a good fit on my frame. I would have normally made the size large as I like roomier cardigans.

I also made a 2 inch ribbing instead of the 4. I'm short, and I didn't think the recommended ribbing would look as nice on me.
