just starting out

Hi everyone. I just joined, and the CPH will be my first sweater. Everyone has advised me to knit my first with a pattern that doesn't require seaming, but I couldn't help but fall in love with this one.

I bough 9 skeins of Cascade 220 superwash for this project and am moving very slowly. I knit up a gauge swatch, but couldn't get the same gauge without it being very hole-ly looking. Then I realized that I should probably wash and block my swatch then measure my gauge. That is my next step.

I'm excited to cast on! To determine what size I needed, I took a hoodie that I love, laid it flat on the ground and measured the bust circumference. I plan on casting on for that measurement. I didn't know how many inches to add on to my actual body measurement for 'give' so I did it this way... Do you think this will be okay?

I am glad to see that you are embarking on your first sweater. I used Cascade 220 on my CPH as well, although it was not the superwash version. My row gauge was a little off, but I managed to get it to work for me when I blocked it.

I would say that it would be wise to knit to the length of your other sweater, and to make the extra length take place in the ribbing.
