Current Progress (Minus Frogging)

This is where I was last week with my CPH. I continued on with the sleeves in the hope that this would be finished by this weekend.

And then I discovered I could not live with the mistake. Yes, I made it twice on purpose. Since you are all a talented group of knitters I'm confident you'll find it at first glance.

On the plus side, I heeded Freda's
advice and washed my swatch a while back. I was surprised by the results. I'm still glad I did it.

I can't wait to post again with a picture of the sleeves done correctly! I feel as though this cable and I are now old friends, and I'm looking forward to doing it correctly.

I can't spot the mistake in the sleeves. The only thing that might be it is the cuff ribbing and how it flow into the cables. Is that it?

You won't regret redoing the sleeves.

I read your experience with washing your swatch. The dye might have something to do with the difference between your result and mine. And maybe there was a difference in how the yarns were spun this year and when yours was made.

I love the color you are using.

Yes, that's it! You found the mistake :-)

I've made my peace with it - posting about it helps a lot.

I do know that there's a difference in your yarn in comparison to mine. I believe yours is from the improved genetics and processed in their newer carder - http://www.beaverslide.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=BDG&Category_Code=WN

And sometimes dye jobs do interesting things to fiber :-)

I also like the color you're using - I bet it's easier to see the stitches than with mine .

It is hard to tell from a photo but your CPH, even being dark, looks like it has better stitch definition than the Sweetgrass I'm using. Mine is pilling badly, too, but it tends to blend in with the tweedieness. I expect that will lessen after washing and blocking.

What size needle are you using? I'm using KP's #8.

I'm using KP's #7 - and I'm not experiencing any pilling issues.

I believe you were getting gauge as well. Mine is a bit wider at 4.25 stitches to the inch.

Maybe you should contact Leanne at Beaverslide and send her some pictures. I don't think a yarn should pill like that when you first knit it. Feel free to contact me at variegatedknitsatgmail if you have anymore questions.
