cascade 220

hi all,

i'm just about to order my yarn for this project and need a little guidance. i saw that a lot of you knit the sweater using cascade 220. the question is, is the gauge drastically different, or am i really going to have to knit up a swatch to find out?

thanks!
stacy

I'd definitely swatch, and wash and block it too. My gauge was pretty different after blocking. Your own tension will of course be different from the pattern too.

I think an hour swatching is well worth it for a sweater I'll spend weeks knitting. And I sure do want it to fit!

'Fraid it's the swatch route ... although mine lied to me. Even if I used the same yarn as the pattern I'd swatch - it's a personal choice though.

My Cascade 220 swatch was perfect initially, and then the rows ended up much longer on CPH than they were in the swatch.

I always swatch, then I keep them for a big blanket I'm planning, so it's like a project all of it's own - which doesn't make it seem like such a drag. A big blanket that I'll be able to look at and remember every project!

I'd love to hear how your swatching goes. I just ordered my yarn for this sweater and went with cascade 220 superwash.
