Negative-Progress Report!

My poor CPH has been in time-out lately. I got a little carried away doing the sleeve cap decreases, and wound up with not nearly enough stitches to do the bind-off! So yesterday, the Knit Devil and I promised ourselves we'd devote a Montrose Monday to working on our cardis. She was picking up stitches for the front bands on hers (I'll let her tell you about that) and I had to rip and reknit sleeves. At one point, I was ready to just rip the entire things down to the ribbing, but a bagel and some iced tea and some good encouraging talk got me soothed down so that I could count and figure out where I was going.
You can see by the condition of the skeins how much I had to rip back. The good news, though, is that I'm now back on track. The armpit bindoffs are done, and I'm ready to start the shaping decreases again. I think I'll do this at home with something really boring and mindless on TV--or maybe the radio!
It's doubly frustrating because I've made so many sweaters in the past, and I've never had this kind of trouble before--especially with such a (relatively) simple pattern! I think it's just that my brain really is fried from the heat and humidity. However, I'm determined to finish this sweater so that it will be worn this coming winter! I'll be sure to post when I have REAL progress to report!

Beaverslide CPH in Alpine Fir is Done!

I can't believe my CPH is finally done. It would have been done earlier, but 90 degree weather & seaming doesn't mix.

I mentioned in an earlier post that I needed to wash it in order for the yarn to bloom and fill out nicely. For more details, please visit my blog.

The specs:

Yarn: Beaverslide Fisherman's Yarn in Alpine Fir, 5.5 skeins
Gauge: 4.25 stitches to the inch
Modifications: Decreased the ribbing on the bottom to 2 inches, did not knit the longer cuffs, short-row shoulders, added 1 inch of length, & continued the cable up the back of the hood.

It's been a fun project, and it's been a lot of fun reading about everyone's choices and modifications.

I would make this again, but if I did, I think I would have to make it a gift.

Progress

Here's my progress...meager but progress none the less!

Central Park Hoodie Progress

FINALLY!!!

This is my first post here. I've been steadily working on the CPH since the beginning of May. In conjunction with the CPH I was finishing up my training for a full Ironman triathlon. I finished that on June 24th and have been able to focus on my knitting.

I'm doing th CPH with Arauncania Nature Wool in a beautiful turquoise color. It's my first sweater project, my first cable project, and my first project that's needed blocking. I'm there! I'm blocking!
I finished this at about 1:30 last night and woke up at 5:30 this morning too excited to sleep. It still needs time to dry but I'm so so so excited.

The pattern says to only sew the shoulder seams before starting the hood, but it looks like some people have seamed the arms too. Will I run into any trouble if I seam the arms before starting the hood?

Thanks!!!

This cardigan has been on my "To-Knit-List" for nearly a year, it take a bit of time for my to find the right yarn for this project.

But last month, Knit Picks finally offered a few knitters from the UK the chance to order yarn, included in my order was some Wool of the Andes in Arctic Pool (a demin blue colour).

Even though, I have several other projects on the needles, I had to test this yarn and knitted up a quick tension square last night, I can't wait to get knitting.

My CPH already seems almost finished, but there is a sleeve missing (not even knit yet).

that's all for now... i'm just happily knitting along here in maine, in between working all day long!

Sleeve cap size?

Here comes the part where I remind you guys again that this is my first cardigan, so I apologize for the silly questions.

I'm knitting the size 42, which says to knit until your sleeve measures 19 1/2". Because I'm short I decided to just go until around 18 3/4" (wrist to armpit). So then I started the cap shaping, and got really worried. The top of the sleeve (where it is eventually seamed with the armhole) is only supposed to reach to the top of my arm, right? Well, I've done the first bindoffs and now I'm about halfway done with the shaping, but the top of my sleeve is already higher than the top of my arm. If I complete the sleeve the way the pattern says, I have a feeling this will reach almost to my neck.

So, my (many) questions. Did I do something wrong? Should I have adjusted the math of this section to compensate for my shorter arms? If I do change the math around, will my seaming work out ok or do I need to make changes to my armholes?

Thanks so much guys. I promise eventually I'll have a finished CPH to show you guys!
